Advent Lutheran School is a classical school. What is classical education? Wisdom, eloquence, and virtue – these are the aims of a classical education. Education is more than the acquisition of basic skills and mere competency. The purpose of education is to transform, to elevate, and to refine the mind, body, and soul. At the center of classical education is an emphasis on the Good, the True, and the Beautiful. Classical education is designed to incline the student toward the Good, True, and Beautiful, guided by the Great Books, mathematical truths, rich history, art, music, and ideas of Western Civilization, while insisting upon the centrality of Holy Scripture.
What makes your school unique?
Advent Lutheran School is classical and Christian – and takes both very seriously. Classical education is focused on wisdom and virtue, and the development of the whole child. It prepares students exceedingly well for college admissions and career opportunities, but also looks beyond these goals, seeking to cultivate human excellence. Classically educated students do score higher on standardized tests than their counterparts, but that’s not the end goal. A love for learning is fostered in students, as they are developed into creative thinkers and effective communicators.
Advent Lutheran School has also formed an amazing family atmosphere – where parents, students and siblings find joy in building relationships with each other. From monthly coffee dates, to hanging out after school, to evening parties – the students and their parents love getting together!
