To share God's grace through the education and enrichment of young children. Our guiding educational philosophy is that every child is a gift from God, full of potential and ready to be nurtured in mind, body and spirit. Advent offers a Christian learning environment for children ages 2 through 5. Our well-balanced program supports emotional, social, cognitive, physical and spiritual development. Children are allowed to develop at their own readiness with the needs of the "whole child" as the focus. Advent joins other Lutheran schools as a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association.

The mission of Advent Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten

Our Curriculum

Advent Preschool uses the Creative Curriculum approach which balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to children's learning styles and building on their strengths and interests. Our Preschool curriculum incorporates the Early Childhood Indiana State guidelines and our Kindergarten uses the Indiana Core Kindergarten Curriculum.  While including clear content in learning the alphabet, pre-reading/reading, number concepts, science, social studies, the arts and technology, we recognize the primary importance of social, spiritual and emotional development in children's early learning.

A Place for Your Child

At Advent's school your child will find a loving, caring environment where he or she can explore the world and prepare for the challenges ahead in kindergarten and first grade. Class sizes are kept small (10-15) with a teacher and an aide so that each child will receive individual attention to help them reach their full potential. Our classrooms are fun, safe, and welcoming spaces where your child can learn and grow.  Advent Lutheran school will not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender or national origin.

Learn By Doing

Young children love to dive in with both hands--whether it is finger-paint, glue, crayons, paint or clay! Getting little fingers moving in new ways with diverse materials helps promote fine motor skills and reinforces mind-body connections in the developing brain. Art also helps small children learn to express and understand their feelings. We encourage this kind of play and make sure that your child has hands-on activities to keep their creative juices flowing!

Growing in Faith

All children, regardless of faith or church affiliation, are welcome at Advent. We include the beginning concepts in the Christian faith in our classrooms. We believe that children benefit from learning about God at an early age. From simple Bible stories, children learn about God's creation and experience how God loves and cares for them each and every day.

Healthy Bodies

There's more to a child's experience at school than ABC's and 123's. A healthy adult body begins early in childhood with plenty of active play. Our large indoor play facility and outdoor play area provide great ways to keep your preschooler moving. Children grow fast - their bodies need lots of movement and spirited play to stay strong.
